As an experienced EFT practitioner in Wolverhampton,
I have assembled some information on EFT
and its uses which I hope you find useful:
What
is EFT?
Emotional
Freedom Techniques (EFT) is one of the Meridian Therapies and
can be learned by anyone – professionals or laypersons
alike. I
perform EFT in the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire area of the
UK.
Basically,
EFT originates from Ayurveda and acupuncture ideas and works
with the meridians of the body. EFT is a simple, tapping routine
that stimulates certain meridian energy points while the client
is “tuned in” to the problem. It often works when
nothing else will – no drugs or equipment are used and
usually has rapid, long lasting results.

A
Brief History of EFT
A
Californian clinic psychologist, Dr R J Callahan developed a
unique form of meridian therapy called Thought Field Therapy
(TFT) whilst working with a patient who had a water phobia. Whilst
developing this highly effective treatment, Dr Callahan found
ways of dealing with strong negative emotions.
Gary
Craig, one of Dr Callahan’s first students, experimented
further with the principles and practices of TFT and decided
to streamline the process, incorporating all the tapping points
into one sequence that could be learned by anyone. This version
was called Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

How
does EFT work?
The
common belief that a negative emotion is the direct result of
a traumatic or negative event or memory. However, meridian therapies
offer a different viewpoint which is based on the “discovery
statement” : “the cause of all negative emotions
is a disruption in the body’s energy system”. This
theory explains why people show different emotions and reactions
and different degrees of stress in response to the same experience.
In simplistic terms, the negative emotion is preventing energy
flowing through certain meridians. Tapping on these meridians
will release the negativity and stimulate meridian energy points.
EFT doesn’t change the memory but rather the way you feel
about it.

What
is EFT used
for?
EFT
can be used for a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms,
too many to mention here. But a few examples are : pain, headaches,
trauma, fears and phobias, anger, panic attacks, eating disorders,
stress, performance… virtually anything.

Are
there any side effects to EFT?
There
are no known side effects to EFT.

What
a typical EFT Session
entails
After
an initial consultation to discuss the “problem”,
the tapping routine is taught so that it can be used by the individual
as and when they need it. One session can often be enough but
sometimes if the problem is long-standing or deep-rooted, further
sessions may be recommended so that the routine can be “tweaked” to
iron out any difficulties and ensure that the client is addressing
the core problem.

How
much does EFT cost?
Costs
can vary depending on time and location. Please contact me
initially for a brief discussion and appropriate prices.

Frequently
Asked Questions about EFT
Here
is a list of some typical questions I'm frequently asked. Hopefully
anything you might want to know is covered somewhere on this
page. If it isn't, don't hesitate to contact me.
How
many EFT sessions will I need?
|
Usually
one EFT session may be enough but if the problem is not
being correctly addressed by the client, a further session
may be required to ensure that they are “tapping” for
the correct negative emotion.

Can
EFT be used during Pregnancy?
|
EFT
should not cause any problems, although there is a linkage
of certain meridian points that should not be used during
pregnancy. If in doubt, then there are other techniques
that can be used.

|
How
long does EFT last?
|
Usually
once the problem has been overcome and the negative emotion
removed, it should be permanent.

Comments on EFT
"I
first heard about EFT when I came to see Lynne because I
was looking for some techniques that could have helped me
to cope after a broken up relationship. I was thinking about
Reiki or Hypno-Therapy to help me to "let go" and
give me energy to go through this difficult time. Lynne told
me about the tapping and being very open, though still sceptic
about some things I didn't know what to expect. She asked
me to describe my emotion when I think of my Ex and I said "disappointment".
She then let me repeat the sentence "Even though I am
disappointed, it's ok" three times... after the first
time I asked her, whether I have to believe what I am saying
because it felt strange and dishonest. She told me to go
on! After the tapping I felt different and when she asked
me what I felt I said "I don't care" - and that
was honest. I felt very relaxed and comfortable and when
I left the centre 20 minutes later I actually was smiling
and very very happy. I don't know how it works but it really
helped me that day. I do use it at home, not as effective
but still working. Lynne has a wonderful positive "personal
magnetism" which I think helps you to relax more but
I'm sure that EFT is great once you know how to use it. Even
though you don't believe everything!!"
Thank you :o) I am very glad I met you
Inka
